Mission
The Roost Academy exists to provide free, high-quality athletic, intellectual, and personal development opportunities to our rural community. We build local avenues for growth so that no student or family has to travel elsewhere to find mentorship, discipline, and community support.
Operating Principles
- Zero Barrier to Entry. Attendance, equipment, and instruction remain completely free of cost to all participants.
- Character First. We welcome anyone who shows up with heart, discipline, and a willingness to put in honest work.
Our Core Values
Start with the fundamentals. Endgames before openings, stance before takedowns, fractions before algebra. We teach the foundational, load-bearing skills first because they are what a student keeps for life.
Everyone competes for real. We don’t hand out unearned victories. Real growth comes from genuine challenge, direct feedback, and learning how to win and lose with dignity.
The academy runs on neighbors. Our coaches, tutors, and volunteers come from right here in our community. We take ownership of lifting up our own people.
Be honest about the tape. Accountable assessment over comfort. We look clearly at where we are, acknowledge mistakes without fluff, and put in the work required to improve.
Have fun with it. Hard work and serious discipline don’t mean a cold environment. Joy comes from shared effort, grit, and building something together.
